It was so lovely to attend Mid Sussex Momentum’s growth-focused business networking event with Business Development Manager, Samantha Norgate, representing Claire Nash Solicitors as part of my work experience placement with them.
Whilst attending and speaking at my first ever networking event was very intimidating, being pushed out of my comfort zone was extremely helpful in developing my public speaking and confidence, and the wider group of business representatives were so kind and encouraging that it made it so much easier.
Not only was the event helpful for my own networking, but Dee Blick, co-editor of the Sussex Exclusive Magazine who wrote an incredibly moving piece on Claire and her journey, was the guest speaker at today’s event, and she gave an incredible talk on positive business disruption that was so inspiring and uplifting that I left with a sense of admiration and newfound determination to chase my own dreams for success. She is an incredible role model of what hard work and true passion looks like, and getting to talk to her afterwards was a privilege.
Being able to speak to the other small business representatives was equally inspiring and beneficial, and I was able to learn a lot from everyone that I spoke to. I also got to see firsthand the impact and importance that networking has on small businesses, and how just one conversation and introduction can lead to bigger connections and collaborations to benefit all parties, and I have come out with a new outlook and understanding of the tactical ways businesses operate and flourish.
I am so grateful to both Claire and Sam for throwing me in the deep end and giving me the chance, and to both Alix and Dee for putting on such a rewarding event.'
